| Gabriel Picart was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1962. He began a successful art career at the age of twenty when he started working as an illustrator throughout Europe, and shortly thereafter for the major publishing houses and advertising agencies in the United States and Canada. Since 1996, Picart has devoted his time to fine art painting. He considers himself a realist painter, working realistically though not photographically. His main love is the human figure, but he has also become noted for his paintings of Barcelona and of Venice. Picart has also begun accepting fine art portraiture with great success.
Picart's paintings are permanently on display at some of the most recognized galleries in the US, and have attracted special attention of noteworthy critics and collectors. Prestigious international art magazines have published articles on him, and Herbert R. Spiers, Ph.D., has authored Picart: A Personal View, a book reflecting the man and his images. |
